Strengths Quotient Institute
We work with people navigating changes in work, identity and direction—and with founders, leaders and professionals trying to build something meaningful from what is distinctive in them.
About SQI
SQI began in Singapore in 2012 with a simple conviction: people understand themselves differently when they can see their patterns in action, not only read a description of them.
We create experiences that make those patterns visible, then help people turn recognition into clearer choices about how they work, lead, build and participate in the world around them.
The Institute's name comes from Strengths Quotient®—the idea that what is distinctive in a person becomes useful when it can be recognised in motion, in context and in relation to what matters.
Douglas Ng founded SQI as one place where his wider work could become lived practice. The Institute does not contain all of that work; it holds the programmes and community through which selected parts are experienced together.
The changing ground
Technology can make execution easier. It can help you produce more, move faster and do things that once required far more effort.
A person can be capable, productive and still sense that the old map no longer fits. More output does not automatically make the direction clearer, the work more distinctive or the life around it more coherent.
The question is not only how to do more. It is what is worth doing, what remains distinctly yours, and how to move without pulling identity, work, relationships and economic life further apart.
Our approach
We begin with experience. Then reflection. Then language that helps you recognise what actually happened.
The aim is not to place you in another category. It is to help you see your patterns clearly enough to decide how you want to use them.
The different SQI experiences are part of a continuing body of work concerned with identity, strengths, direction, coherence and meaningful economic participation. Douglas calls the evolving structure beneath it the Unified Architecture. You do not need to learn that architecture to take part. It helps us keep the experiences coherent while keeping the human encounter in front.
Experiences
Each experience begins with a different question. None is a required step in a funnel. Some are open now; others are still being prepared.

Community home coming soon
The Ikigai Zone is the community SQI is building for people who want to remain in relationship with the questions, the work and one another after a single experience ends.
It is not an alumni list or a marketing layer. It is intended as a living context for conversation, participation and work that continues to take shape.
Ignite Your Ikigai Zone may be one doorway into the community. The community itself is larger than that doorway.
